

Margerete Biernat, "Marge" age 93 and longtime resident of Warren, Michigan, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the Oakmont Assisted Living Residence in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Margerete was born July 25, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of Stanley Stankiewicz and Elizabeth (nee: Romanowski) Stankiewicz.Marge was raised in Detroit where the family attended St. Thomas Catholic Parish. Following high school, Marge continued her education at Business College. She would eventually land her first job working as a secretary for Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Company in Detroit. As the years passed and her skill-set blossomed, she chose to transfer her talents and put them to work for the General Motors Corporation. While working and being a woman ahead of her time, she also enjoyed traveling with her girlfriends to New York, and other exciting destinations as well. Later, at age 31, Margerete married Alfred Biernat in 1952. The couple settled in Warren where they raised their children. Marge quit working outside of the home to devote her efforts to raising her children and would become one of the finest "stay at home" Mom's.Marge's life revolved around her children and family. She was devout in her Catholic faith and committed to St. Anne Catholic Church in Warren. As a member of the Daughter's of Isabella, and the St. Anne Garden Club where she served as secretary, Marge never liked to sit still. However, when she did Margerete enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. Over the years she made many blankets and hats. As her children grew, Marge returned to the workforce as a secretary for Warren High School where she worked for many years.Following her husband's death, Marge continued to travel with the local senior groups and also made many visits to Dallas to visit her son. Additionally, Margerete was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and would watch the games with her son while sneaking some of her favorite Godiva Chocolates. She really had a sweet tooth and favored most things chocolate including Sanders Cream Puff Sundaes,...however she was never selfish and was always willing to share.Margerete was the wife of the late Alfred Biernat, and is the loving mother of Denise (Steve) Salminen, Alfred Jr. (Jeannie) Biernat, Donna (Shawn) McWilliams, Christine (Mark) Taber, David (Sabrina) Biernat, and Daniel Biernat. She was the cherished grandmother of Jason Salminen, Lindsay Salminen, Kelly Salminen, Kimberly Salminen, Angelica & Dennis Saylor, Kaitin & Benji Connell, Jess Biernat, Bradley & Cassie Fuller, Alaina & George Jorrey, Laura & David Bartley, Nicole & Chad Bengry, Rebecca & Jeffrey Behm, Leah Taber, Rachel & Ryann Curton, Mark Taber Jr., Christopher, and Lucas Biernat. Great-grandmother of Jade, Lark, Teel, Wren, Luca, Julius, Harlan, Lawson, Braeden, Kaden, Ava, Ashton, Logan, Arianna, Benjamin, Adalya, Malin, Arden, and Faye.Visitation for Mrs. Biernat will be held Wednesday, December 16th from 3-9pm, with a 5pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. Mrs. Biernat will lie in state Thursday 9:30am at St. Anne Catholic Church until the time of her Funeral Mass at 10am. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Reverend Fr. Alberto Bondy.
