Maria Elizabeth Benoit

Maria Elizabeth Benoit, age 89, died at her home in Center Line, Michigan on Sunday, September 13, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.  Maria was born October 5, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Carl Ochsenkiel and the late Katharina (nee: Schausen) Ochsenkiel.

Maria worked for many years as a secretary and administrative assistant within the Center Line School System until ultimately accepting her well-deserved retirement.  She will be forever remembered for her deep Catholic faith and her love of her entire family.

Mrs. Benoit was the beloved mother of Darlene (Jay) Kirstein, Doris (the late Andrew) Surovec, Deborah Duyck, Diane Mrozinski, and the late Daniel Duyck.  She was also the loving grandmother of John, Kyle, Kaytlin, Matthew, Ashley, Christopher, and great-grandmother of Brooks, Duke, and Sloane.  Further surviving Maria is her brother Karl (Mary) Ochsenkiel, and the slew of feral cats she adored within the neighborhood. 

Mrs. Benoit will lie in state on Wednesday, September 16th  from 10:00 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Mary Our Lady Queen of Families Catholic Church – St. Clement Campus in Center Line, Michigan. Celebrating the Funeral Liturgy will be Reverend Fr. Thomas Slowinski.  Mrs. Benoit will be interred within St. Clement Cemetery.
