Marianne Thibodeau, age 74 of Sterling Heights, died Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. She was born June 23, 1946 in Detroit, Daughter of the late Joseph and the late Mary (nee: Bruci) Klobucar.
When contemplating Marianne’s life, a key component was definitely found in the word “Center.” More than in the love and care that is associated between mothers and their children,…it ran much deeper than that in the Thibodeau family. You see…family was the “center” of Marianne’s heart, and Marianne was the “center” of theirs. It was a shared relationship built upon both qualitative and quantitative love and trust, and held together by God’s loving hands. To quote her children; “all she wanted was to be a good Mom.” Well,…she certainly achieved that goal, then went the extra mile!
Like most Mom’s of her era, Marianne was a consummate cook and baker. The keeper of many “secret recipes,”…for Marianne, hers always started with butter & sugar. It seemed as though no matter what she was preparing, those two ingredients reigned supreme,…and just one bite of the finished product told the story. She certainly knew her way around the kitchen, which is where she worked her incredible culinary magic. Mealtimes at Marianne’s were always a special occasion with plenty of food for all. If you left her table hungry, you simply weren’t tryin’.
Along with all of her other outstanding traits, Marianne will be fondly remembered for her positive outlook on life, a positivity that was both infectious and never-ending. With never a negative thought about anyone or anything, she always managed to find the good in life. Hers was a life that abided by the lyrics of that old song that says; “accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative.” If you were having a rough day and needed some encouragement, then Marianne was the person you wanted to be around. If you were having a monumental day and wanted to celebrate, then Marianne was the person you wanted to be around. Plain & simple,…Marianne was the person you always wanted (or perhaps, needed) to be around. Perhaps it defines the reason that Marianne was friends with everyone.
But when it came to those most special and precious moments in life, her favorite times were those spent in the company of her cherished grandchildren. Their youthfulness and exuberance kept her feeling young, and the memories they made together were the threads that helped weave the fabric of the love they shared. Perhaps the most special of these memories were the annual Donut & Caramel Apple making sessions,…which, by the way, just happened to end in the must-have flour fights. Yet even amidst the fight, there was Grandma,…laughing her butt off,…coated in flour, and surrounded by love!
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Marianne touched a multitude of hearts and souls in her journey this side of Heaven. May she now enjoy the blessings on the other side as she rests safely in the arms of God.
Marianne was the beloved wife of the late Dennis. Dearest mother of Alan (Kelly) Thibodeau and Scott (Jennifer) Thibodeau. Loving grandmother of Jared, Jenna, Jacey, Nicholas, and John. Sister of Joseph (Kay) Klobucar, and sister-in-law of Robert (Ruth) Thibodeau.

She will lie in state on Wednesday from 10:30 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren. Officiating the funeral liturgy will be Rev. Fr. Nick Zukowski.
