Marvin Arthur Warda, age 82 of Warren, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital at their Warren Campus. He was born December 8, 1938, son of the late Henry and the late Frances (nee: Wiechowski) Warda.
Born and raised in Detroit, Marvin’s career aspirations would ultimately lead him to the automotive world where his education and training girded him up in his profession as a chemist. Quite the cerebral position and one that demanded much of Marvin’s expertise, the times he spent away from his work became very precious as it was in those moments that he was able to find a bit of balance in life,…a little work, a little play, and Marvin seemed to manage it all quite well. In his attempt at securing some of that balance, Marvin would often pursue his passion for the game of golf, or an afternoon down at the local bowling alley. Whether he was chasing after that elusive Hole-in-One or rolling for that perfect 300 game, Marvin was imbued with a wonderful mix of competitiveness and camaraderie that made participating alongside of him an enjoyable and fulfilling experience for all who joined in on the fun.
Another source of the fun he enjoyed was found in playing card games with family and friends, with one of his favorites being the game of Bridge. A thinkers game, indeed,…it was a card game in a world all its own, and Marvin found great joy in visiting that world as often as he could. He also loved the challenge of solving crossword puzzles, which, of course, helped keep his mind sharp for all of his other pleasures. It’s been said that two of the best ways to bolster the mind is by reading and doing crossword puzzles, so Marvin was truly ahead of the curve.
But of all the extracurricular activities and pastimes he enjoyed, perhaps none were as meaningful and special as the moments he spent on the dance floor with his bride and dance partner, Geraldine. Growing up in an era where much of the socializing of the day took place in the local dance hall, Marvin & Geraldine were a sight to behold as they swayed across the floor with effortless abandon, lovingly embraced in each others’ arms. Like watching a movie with Fred & Ginger tripping the light fantastic, Marvin & Geraldine had moves all their own that found themselves enrapt in the arms of romance as they moved to the music, and to the beat of each others’ heart. The two lovebirds enjoyed many wonderful years together, and never felt more in love than when sharing a dance.
Known for his infectious smile and a laugh that was one-of-a-kind, Marvin was the sort of guy who brought joy wherever he went and left a plethora of beautiful memories in his wake. Seeing others happy instilled him with unspeakable delight, and the pleasure of being a part of the joy he infused was a gift he unwrapped each and every day. Marvin lived the Golden Rule and emanated a unique friendliness with all he engaged in life. To know him was to love him, and Marvin often went out of his way to make life better for others. A loving husband, father and grandfather many times over, Marvin leaves behind a storehouse of wonderful memories and a legacy of love that is sure to speak to the heart of all whose lives he touched,…and the number is truly countless. With each remembrance he will be missed, and loved even more with each reflection shared. Marvin’s life was a unique and interesting story,…may it be read for generations to come. Rest in peace, dear brother.
Marvin was the beloved husband of the late Geraldine. Dearest father of Brian (Kelly) Warda, Dave (Patti) Warda, Gary (Loretta) Warda, Alane (Kurt) Willming, and Kristin (Scott) Walczy.
