Michael Anthony Webb, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. Michael was born August 19, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan, son of Patricia (nee: Popowiecki) Webb and the late William Webb. When Michael suited up for work, it meant he was headed out into the world of sales where his specialty was helping people settle into their new home. A Realtor by trade, most everybody who came into contact with Mike will tell you that the first thing he ever sold was that dazzling smile and warm personality. One glimmer of those pearly-whites and you were jelly in his hands. But unlike many salespeople out there, Mike's smile came from his heart and was shared in the most unselfish manner,…and provided a genuine sense of who the man was at his core. And not merely in his career, Mike's care and compassion reached out in a plethora of ways that touched many people who shared his journey, both family and friends alike,…sometimes even a stranger. As the old adage states, and was certainly true for Mike, "he was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back" whenever the need arose. Reaching out to others was never more a witness of his compassion than when he was caring for his Mom and daughter, Kyleigh. With his daughter being of special needs, Mike was constantly attentive to her care and seeing that his cherub was provided the best of what he could extend. With his Mom, the effects of aging and its accompanying challenges were something that Mike took to heart and made the loving choice of helping her through its process. From seeing that she was bathed, clothed, fed and cared for, Mike held his Mom in the highest regard and wanted to make sure that she would never be in want of anything. Even throughout his own battle with cancer,…he was there to do his best.Mike took bringing the smile of others to another level when he recorded the same through either his photographic or videographic talents. He loved capturing the joy of his family and friends through both genres so it could be reflected upon for future reminiscing. If he snapped you with his camera, he would often make a point of producing copies that he shared with his subjects. Just another example of his sharing spirit.Smiles would also abound each time Mike visited one of his favorite places to dine, Hamtramck's famed "Polish Village." He absolutely LOVED that establishment with its world-class menu and unique ambiance,…and of course, its ability to leave you with a full & satisfied belly! He loved food in general, but the Polish Village was always a prime and favored destination. Considered to be quite the cook himself, Mike was truly the "Breakfast King." The Village may have reigned supreme for later in the day, but his love of breakfast with all its delicious fare got the day started off right. Give him his kitchen space and the necessary accoutrements and he could whip up something magical for the taste buds to savor. Nobody did eggs or flapjacks better than Chef Michael. Michael had another love in his life that helped produce a different kind of smile, one that emanated each time he strapped on the leathers and mounted his prize Hog,…that glorious Harley-Davidson motorcycle that helped him channel Peter Fonda in the classic movie, "On Any Sunday." But whether it was Sunday or any other day of the week, riding his bike provided a sense of freedom and release in a way only a Harley owner would know. With all that power and the open road, Mike managed to create some wonderful and exciting memories on his bike,…not to mention the host of Harley riding friends he made over the years. It truly was an association he enjoyed. Enjoying another of his favorite pastimes, (with a different kind of engine), was experienced each time the boat was launched and headed out on the lake for a little maritime pleasure. Nothing says fun quite like a day of boating, and Mike was one of the many Michiganders who knew those pleasures and ate them up at every opportunity provided. Put a bunch of family or friends together on the waves and you've got the start to some incredible and momentous memories, times that Mike helped to create and live to the fullest. There was another source of fun and enjoyment that Mike took away with each trip made to the family cottage. Exchanging the concrete jungle for a little of Michigan's "up north" splendor always got his vote, and was something he sought to do as often as possible. Heading up north provided Mike an added pleasure, this time through his love of hunting. Quite often this took place in the beautiful setting of Hastings, Michigan, a rural environment rife with opportunities for any hunting enthusiast. It was yet another way to conger up some peacefulness amidst his sporting pleasures. As for his enjoyment closer to home, there was also great fun and entertainment to be had by watching a good western on television,…especially when it highlighted the iconic Clint Eastwood. It just doesn't get more macho than Clint, the definitive Bad-Ass in a cowboy hat. Television offered Mike another form of boob-tube excitement through the sport of boxing. So between the westerns and boxing, Mike's "Man Card" was sufficiently punched each time he sat in front of the TV. Going from the TV to music, the shift would often include the sounds of Jimi Hendrix, the magician with a guitar. Known as one of the greatest and most iconic artists in the world, Mike truly enjoyed the riffs and dynamic performances that Jimi provided to the listener,…and Mike listened often. And hailing from the Motor Capital of the world, Mike was just one of the many car lover's out there, especially when it came to the famed Chevrolet Corvette. Detroit has produced many variations of cars that have reached "classic" status, but Mike knew that few can compare to the "Vette." Then there was the hat he donned as "repairman,"…an unofficial title that reflected his "Mr. Fix-It" skills, but a title he held proudly, nonetheless, through the many tweaks and adjustments he exuded that made all the difference at a time of need. And there was always that Tim Allen moment that seemed to ensue immediately afterwards…Ar-Ar-Ar!A beloved husband, father, son and brother, Mike was blessed to have a cadre of loving family and friends that surrounded his life. Though his journey was, albeit, short,…it was full of people who brought him joy and warm smiles, support in the time of need, and a reassurance that his time this side of Heaven meant something,…and it did to the countless lives he touched along the way. For all the ways he reached out and made a difference, may we know the blessings that are sure to come with each reflection shared. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Michael was the beloved husband of Lori (nee: Van Elslander). Loving father of Allyson, Cydney, and the late Kyleigh and Kyrsten. Dear son of Patricia and the late William Webb. Brother of Johnny Webb. Son-in-law of Archie and Mary Ann Van Elslander. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and close friends. Visitation for Mr. Webb will be held on Thursday, October 19th from 5:00-9:00 pm and Friday from 2:00-9:00 pm, with a 7:30 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S.
