Nancy May Leiter, age 81 of Warren, died Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 22, 1937 in Detroit, daughter of the late Anthony and the late Marianne (nee: Karbowski) Buczynski.Where many women are blessed to enjoy a relationship with one kind man throughout their life, Nancy was doubly blessed to have shared in a loving marriage with two wonderful men. The first, her dashing & brave Sergeant from the Korean War, Mr. Belmont Austin with whom she shared 22 wonderful years and welcomed five beautiful children into the world. Following Belmont's passing came husband #2, her German Gentleman, Mr. Charles Leiter, who would bring her immense joy for over 21 years until his passing as well. Together with these two gentlemen, Nancy was able to maintain the warmth of home and hearth, raise five incredible children, and grow deeper in love with each of them in the time they were afforded, respectively. Along with caring for the needs of her loved ones, Nancy was quite the independent woman who also found great joy and satisfaction in working outside of the home as well. When considering the gregarious and outgoing personality she possessed, it made perfect sense that Nancy would choose the world of sales as her career path and avenue towards success. So with her natural skills as a step inside the door, the lucky recipients of this outstanding salesperson were the folks at Crest Lincoln Mercury where Nancy wowed the shoppers and worked her magic in selling cars and making friends.Like many Moms out there, Nancy possessed some "mad skills" in the kitchen as well. Known for her outstanding prowess as a cook, all she required was a stove, an oven, an adequate preparation space,…then just step back and watch the Chef do what she did best, prepare a meal fit for a King. And when it came to her delicious soups and amazing pots of goulash, Nancy stood above the rest. Mealtimes at Nancy's were always a thing to behold; if you left her table hungry, you just weren't tryin'!Nancy was also an esteemed lover of animals, and an owner as well. From the precious family of St. Bernard's that graced her home throughout the years, to her two feline femme fatales, Sweetie & Baby," Nancy's life was rich & memorable simply through the love she shared with her furry friends. They added so much to her life, and heart. And Nancy will forever be remembered by another way she attempted to add something to her life each time she scratched off one of those BINGO gaming cards,…and always with a Miller Lite in hand for a little liquid encouragement. A little Lotto, a little brewski, and life was good!Yet of all that Nancy leaves to reflect upon, a definite honorable mention would certainly be the talents she exuded as both a seamstress and knitter. Plain & simple,…Nancy was quite adept with needles, both big and small, and could weave together the sharpest article of clothing or the warmest afghan to cozy up with on a cold, wintry evening. Her sewing portfolio was rife with the curtains she created, the suits she tailored for her sons and their neighborhood friends, but mostly for the incredible wedding dresses she stitched that adorned many-a-beautiful bride over the years. Perhaps most proud was the wedding dress Nancy created from a special request out of Germany,…a dress that took her over 200 hours to sew. And yes, it was a thing of splendor! Like Picasso had his paints, Nancy had her needles, and each of their palates produced incredible works of art.Possessing a great sense of humor and being funny to the core, Nancy was always the "Life of the Party." She knew how to have fun and loved bringing others along for the ride. Yet for as lighthearted and humorous as she was, Nancy was also immensely smart,…tough, but feminine at the same time. She always had the best advice and was often sought after for the wonderful guidance she would share. And to balance out all of this humor and intelligence came her deep and abiding faith, her light in the darkness and her strength in the time of need. Her faith made her the feeling person she was, and fueled the kindness that was felt by many. Like the old adage states,…Nancy was the kind of person who would "give you the shirt off her back" if she sensed there was a need. She gave with the heart of a servant and touched a multitude of hearts and souls in her journey this side of Heaven. This loving wife, mother and grandmother leaves a legacy of love that is sure to be embraced with each reflection shared by those who were blessed to know her. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Belmont Austin, and the late Charles Leiter. Dear mother of Joseph (Vicky) Austin, Ronald Austin, Brian Austin, Eric (Anna) Austin, and Lisa (David) Piersol. Loving grandmother of Rosie, Tara, Trevor, Jack, Gavin, Erica, Catherine, and great-grandmother of Christian, Jerod, Camden, Canaan, Robbie and Amya. Sister of Roseanne Lesifkco, Bernard Buczynski, and the late Pat Osborne. Visitation for Nancy will be held Saturday, January 12th from 5-9 pm and on Sunday from 2-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. Her Funeral Service will take place on Monday, 11:00 am at the funeral home.
