Patricia "Nonie" Maria Northup

It is with deep respect and fond remembrance that we announce the passing of Patricia "Nonie" Maria Northup, age 89 of Warren, Michigan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was born on January 30, 1937, in Thebes, Illinois to Ida Mae and Virgil Tinsley.

Nonie began her lifelong journey with her childhood sweetheart, Jim, on April 12, 1951, at just 14-years old, and the two were married on June 12, 1954, at Fort Street Presbyterian Church in Detroit. Together, they shared 63 years of devoted marriage.

A graduate of Margaret Lawrence School of Beauty, Nonie practiced cosmetology both in her mother's beauty shop and later from her own home-based salon, lovingly serving family and friends. Her professional life was rich and varied, including roles in the financial, medical, and insurance sector, work as a seamstress at Ford Motor Company, and eventually as an in-home daycare provider.

Nonie's greatest pride and purpose came from raising her family. She ensured her children experienced a wealth of enrichment through ballet, music lessons, sports, and school activities all while managing a vibrant household.

Nonie's hobbies reflected her zest for life. She collected dolls and Hallmark keepsakes, took part in related clubs, and was a proud member of the Red Hats. She also found joy in belly dancing and gardening, and was a passionate Elvis Presley fan, having attended his 1975 performance at the Silverdome.

She treasured moments playing "Shang-hi" with her family, watching her "stories" and reality shows on television, and maintained a lifelong love of reading. Nonie's memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Nonie was the beloved wife of the late James. Loving mother of Melanie (Tab) Martin, Michael (Karen), Steven (Patt), and Kevin (Denise). Cherished grandmother of Erica (Joseph) Makarewicz, Harmonie (David) Cafagna, Aaron (Diana) Drobek, Michael (Denelle) Northup, Rachel (Brandon) Gadja, Kyle (Heidi) Northup, Tyler (Jordan) Northup, Gregory (Stacy) Martin, Cheyenne (Kyle) Martinez, Jacob (McKenna) Northup, Sean Northup, and Haley Northup. Adored great-grandmother of Noah, Sasha, Sadie, and Elijah Cafagna; Easton Gadja; Greyson, Rylan and Rylie Martin; Logan and Conner Makarewicz; Arlo and Lucy Northup; Avery Martinez, Casey Northup and Mateo Drobek; Spencer, Remy and Daphne Cicotte; and the late Lily Jaye Makarewicz. Dear sister of the late Jack (the late Sandra) Tinsley and the late Mary Tinsley. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Nonie will be held on Thursday, February 26th from 4-8pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road in Warren, MI. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 27th at 11am at the Funeral Home. Private Burial at White Chapel Cemetery.
