

Paul Baranich, age 88, a resident of Warren for over 52 years, died Friday, November 27, 2015 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Paul was born July 16, 1927 in Patton, Pennsylvania, son of the late Michael Baranich and the late Mary (nee: Dimish) Baranich.Paul was raised in Pennsylvania where he graduated high school. Following school, Paul entered the military at age 17 serving in the United States Navy. Paul served aboard the USS Tollberg where he attained the rank of Seaman Second Class. Following his faithful and honorable service to our country, Paul returned to Pennsylvania where he took a position in the coal mining industry. He eventually came to the reality that coal mining was not for him, so he ventured to Detroit in search of a job within the burgeoning automotive industry,...a search which provided fruitful opportunities and a bright future.Paul worked for Chrysler Motors as an engineer where he extended over 36 years of dedicated service before accepting his well-deserved retirement. Throughout both his working and retirement years, Paul was an avid golfer, bowler, pool player, fisherman, and also enjoyed traveling the world with his beautiful wife. The two traveled the globe visiting many scenic places including Australia and New Zealand. The couple took many shipboard cruises, sailing from the tropics to the wonders of Alaska.Paul never forgot his military service nor the many comrades lost during our country's wars and conflicts. He was a proud member of the VFW Menge Post in Warren, and also a member of the Macomb County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ritual Team. Paul gave selflessly to his family and others. He was always there for his family and grandchildren, and will forever be remembered with deep affection.Paul was the beloved husband of Dorothy, and is the dear father of Jeffrey (Diane) Baranich. He is also the cherished grandpa and "Pops" of Matthew, Sophia, Jonathan, and Julianna. Also surviving are Paul sister's Betty Vincent, Elaine Szuch, and special nephew Larry (Marcie) Smartt. Paul was predeceased by his parents and many siblings.Visitation for Mr. Baranich will be held Monday, November 30th from 3-8pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ mile) in Warren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 am at the Funeral Home.
