There was a time I was too afraid to even enter Gram's house on Jackson because of the fists in the neck and 'teasing' I'd get from Uncle Paul. One time I stayed in the car and refused to go in and Uncle Paul came out to me. I think it hurt him to know that I was 'afraid' of him. From that time, he and I were pals. I loved spending time in his basement at parties when I was young. Standing behind the bar, etc. While I didn't get over to Warren to visit as often as I would have liked, Uncle Paul and Aunt Mary have a special place in my heart. And most recently, on a trip to Bay City, I had the pleasure of driving Uncle Paul and my mom to a birthday party. Later, Uncle Paul said I was an excellent driver... quite a compliment coming from a State Trooper. Uncle Paul, I will miss your smile and your visits to Berkley! My love to Aunt Mary, Jack, Nora and Sue and all the kids!

It made my day to look out our kitchen window and see Pa "lawning," just standing on the driveway, with his hands on his hips, checking out his lawn. That was Pa, lovin life :)

Pa and me began a special friendship when we shared our first joke together. So often he'd get me laughing before the punchline. I'm so grateful God gave me the opportunity to know someone like Pa. And Ning, Jack, Sherri, Mike, Nora, Sue, Doug, and Pa's grandchildren, my heart goes out to you all.

Dear Ones...It's quiet now. The deeply felt memories are setting in. Our family is overwhelmed with the beautiful response to Pa's passing and appreciate the many gestures of warmth and love we've received from everyone. Pa lived a simple life, never changing habits, just his fried foods, his cigarettes and Budweiser (along with an occasional "hooter") He loved his music and TV and his garden. Most of all he LOVED his family and friends. He took care of us all and he was repaid with the respect and love he earned throughout his lifetime. I'm so proud to have been in his life...he'll never be gone. I love him so.

Pam and I will miss Pa's love of family and laughter. I will miss the weekend poker games that included a little whiskey, a few beers (ok.....a lot of beers) and lots of laughs. We will miss him at the annual "boys" weekend at the cottage for fishing, drinking, eating and poker. I'm thankful he was there this past Summer. We'll save a seat for him next year, he will be there in spirit. He was a good man with a good heart and has a wonderful family. He will always be in our thoughts.

Uncle Paul will truly be missed. He was the life of any party and a blast to hang out with. My prayers and sympathies to Auntie Em, Jack, Nora and Sue. I wish I could be there. Love you guys...Jenn

One true love with a beautiful woman, a great father that is loved by his awesome kids and grand-kids, the love and respect of all your kid's friends, always good for a laugh and a smile, good conversation, good jokes (mostly), and good drinks. Susan, Nora and Jack: Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families during this difficult time. We were lucky to know Pa and were witness to the love and adoration he had for his children and grandchildren. May all your happy memories of your beloved Pa help you get through this difficult time.

My Dad was known by several names; Dad, Paul, Pa, & Mr. B to name a few (appropriate for this site). Most who knew him know he started many conversations with, "Did you hear the one about....". He was my father, but more than that my friend. He hung out with my friends at parties, watching sports, playing poker & euchre, fishing, golfing, Tigers games. Activities usually involved Budweiser, whisky, cigarettes and cigars. He always told me I had great friends, and I would say, "I know, Pa.". I will miss his Saturday afternoon visits to my house, when he would drop by for a beer and we'd talk for an hour. He was a good man and lived a good life. He spent 34 years protecting people; 8 in the Army and 26 with the State Police. He lived 81 good years and passed quickly, for which we are thankful.

Pa my love, wasn't that a party??!!!! I've loved you since I was your bride and the kids and grandkids were so proud to have you in their lives. We sat and reminiced about all the great times...we'll do that often....you'll never be far from our thoughts.. Thank you for your love and spirit. It will keep me going for the family.

He's with Gram and Grandpa now. My love and prayers are with you all -- Aunt Mary, Jack, Nora, Sue, Sheri, Mike and Doug, and all the 'kids'; all the aunts and uncles and cousins. Among many sweet memories of Uncle Paul, his visits to Berkley. A couple recent times I was back in the States -- him sitting at the kitchen table with Mom and Pop. Wearing a cardigan. Arms outstretched straight, hands resting on the table. His head slanted a bit to the side. Looking with those beautiful sparkling eyes. 'So how ya doin' over there, Nance? Ya makin' some money?' On waking Wednesday morning, this was my first thought: P/Pillar, A/Authentic, U/Unwavering, L/Loyal. Love you, Uncle Paul. Thanks for the gift of you.

Wow....They better be ready in Heaven for Paul's arrival. I remember being so excited waiting for his visits from Jersey to Jessup. But, he wasn't home two minutes when the orders and chores were being handed out. But then, he would call us three kids and our friends together on the front lawn, count to three, and throw a few dollars worth of pennies into the air. We would all scramble to see who could pick up the most while he laughed out loud. Pennies were important to Paul! So, Uncle Penny, stay close okay. We still need you around to keep us in line. I love you more than I can say, and miss you even more than that! Pat

One of my best memories of Uncle Paul was at a family Christmas party at Dbn CC and I was walking around and found Uncle Paul sitting at a piano playing a couple of tunes. Now as most of the cousins know Uncle Paul could be slightly intimidating to a kid (eh Katie?). To see what I always thought of as a tough guy playing the piano (not perfectly) made me think this is cool. To sit there and try and get it just right was great to watch. Uncle Paul always wanted to know what was happening in my life whenever I saw him. He made you feel special when around him. Aunt Mary, Jack, Nora, Sue and your families you had something special, of course you knew that. He will be missed.

Pa is one of my BEST freinds I've ever had. I think I spent more time with Pa than I did with my wife Nora(his daughter). We we're also neighbors for over 20 years and YOU COULDN'T ASK FOR BETTER PEOPLE. My heart hurts like never before and I miss him so much. Patriarch: A man who is older and higher in rank or relative status; the perfect description for Paul. He was a man of honor with a sound sense of integrity, and an enormously loving heart. All the lives he touched in his 81 years were enhanced by his character and honored by his friendship. All our love and prayers are with Mary, Jack & Sherry, Nora & Mike, Sue & Doug and Paul's six grandchildren: Candis, Lauren, Nick, Jessica, Jennifer and Kevin.

Our family would like to thank everyone who came to the funeral home, sent flowers, cards, emails, phone calls. It's been a wonderful outpouring of affection for my Dad. I can tell you all loved him, and he loved all of you. To me, Pa was a great friend. We did many things together and I am going to miss those times a lot. Pa lived his life his way, and I'm pretty sure he enjoyed it very much. He was almost 82 and he was healthy and self sufficient up until the very end, and for that we are grateful. He was a good man, characterized by his honor, integrity and dignity. If I had to choose one attribute to remember about Pa it would be his humor. His jokes and stories never got old, even if you were hearing them for the 100th time. Although he is physically gone now, I know his spirit will live on in all of us for a long time.

I'll never forget the jokes, the stories, and all the laughs. And though it's hard for all of us to say, goodbye Pa. And thanks for everything.

Mary and Family, please accept my sincerest sympathy on your loss. I worked for Paul at BCBSM for several years as his secretary in CFI. He was always a jokester, so funny and a pleasure to work for. He always had great stories to tell and interesting comments on current events. After he retired it was always fun to see him at our parties and picnics and catch up on everything. Pa was the greatest Grandfather anyone could ask for. Whether it was the classic "Pa jokes," or his famous cooking, he could always bring a smile to your face. I love him, and I'll miss him. My grandfather, my hero.

To Aunt Mary, Nora, Mike, Susan, Doug, Jack & Sheri, Please know that we are all thinking of you and praying for Uncle Paul. Although I didn't see Uncle Paul often (he hated flying, right?!) -- I have such clear memories of every time I did. I don't think I ever shared this -- but he made a huge impression on my when our family traveled out to Michigan when I was in 6th grade. I remember how Uncle Paul went out of his way to sit down and spend some time with me. He was funny, incredibly vivacious,and most of all -- he was really interested in me! The thing I will never forget is how he played the piano. I was taking some music lessons at the time, learning to play scales, etc. Uncle Paul could play by ear. His favorite at the time was Ragtime. I never, ever saw anyone play for fun. I mean that. It was a whole different experience! I've often thought that if my boys ever want to play music-- I'd love them to have a teacher like Uncle Paul. He had a whole lot of joie de vivre -- and I remember that he brought it to everything -- especially music. Love you guys. Mary

I shall miss his "Hi Mar" or "Hi Mar-a" everytime I saw him. I shall miss our discussions regarding law and order or the lack thereof at family events. I shall miss that roguish grin and twinkling eyes that greeted you whenever he saw you. Aunt Mary, Jack, Nora, Sue and families: While physically gone, his fiesty spirit will live on forever. I shall miss him. Love you all. Mary.

We'll miss his jokes and his laugh. We'll miss his "Hiya Jursey how's that bastard you live with" when I call my sister Mary for a 2 hour chat. He is in the arms of many of those who went before him. Keep em laughing Paul and no arguing politics.
