Paul was a depression era baby, born and raised in Detroit where he was an average student in catholic schools and never considered himself college material. Every spare moment away from school Paul was drawn to the water,...either on the Detroit River or Lake St. Clair. At the young age of 12 Paul was already navigating the Detroit River and Lake St Clair on his own. He later raced hydroplane boats and continued to be an avid angler.
Paul served proudly in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War achieving the rank of Sergeant. He served from August 21, 1950 until his honorable discharge on March 30, 1952.
Following his military service Paul returned home to Michigan and started working for Michigan Bell as a line repairman. He eventually progressed through a few advancement steps and transferred to the sales department which better suited his personality. Paul worked for over 35 years for Michigan Bell, Ameritech, and the Yellow Pages before retiring.
Paul raised his family in Sterling Heights and never lost his connection with the water. When Paul was not working, he cherished the outdoors and being out on the water. He and his wife enjoyed socializing and traveling, and Paul continued fishing, bowling, and hunting. He had a larger than life personality with a smile on his face and a friendly handshake for everyone. He loved his family, his grandchildren, and animals,...especially his beloved dog. He was still trailering and launching his own boat at age 85.
Paul E. O'Bryan was the beloved husband of the late June Anna O'Bryan, and the father of David (Cindy) O'Bryan, Keith (Elissa) O'Bryan, and Timothy (the late Kyle) O'Bryan. He was the loving grandfather Sean, Adelynn, and Morgan.
