Phillip D. Hayes

Phillip Dale Hayes, age 60 of Warren, died Friday, November 07, 2008 at his home in Warren surrounded by his loving family. Phillip was born August 09, 1948 in Nashville, Tennessee the son of the late Thomas Gentry Hayes and the late Frances (nee: Layne) Hayes. Mr. Hayes moved to Michigan as a young man with his family. He was raised in Warren and attended the Center Line Schools. As a young adult he went to work first for his father and then for the Ford Motor Car Company, where he worked for over 30 years as an assembly line worker mostly at the Sterling Heights assembly plant. When Phil was not working he was giving to others, by way of his time or donation efforts to help people who he thought needed a hand. He loved country music and being a cowboy. Often times he would organize local country bands and members to donate their talents to raise money for charities. He was an ardent supporter of Muscular Dystrophy but was also willing to help anyone down on their luck. After his retirement Phil and his wife bought an RV to travel the country and try to locate a nice winter retirement home. They traveled out west but eventually found Port Charlotte Florida as a place with relatives, sunshine, and golf. Beyond loving country music, Phil loved golfing, and the local casinos. However just being around his family gave him great comfort. Phillip Hayes is survived by his dear wife Barbara, and his son David. He is the stepfather of Willard Sasser, Kimberly Sasser, and brother of Charles (Sandra) Hayes, Faye Tisler, Arlene (Barry) Wagner, and Towana (Donald) Rossi. Also surviving are four grandchildren. Mr. Hayes was predeceased by his dear son Daniel Hayes and his parents. Visitation for Mr. Hayes will be Monday November 10th from 3-9 pm.
