Richard Paul Horalek passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 76 at his home in Warren, Michigan. He was born October 23, 1949, to the late Paul Horalek and the late Shirley (nee: Schultz) Horalek.
Richard graduated from Hazel Park High School in 1967. In 1970, he met the love of his life, Linda (nee: Wilkerson), and the two were married in Hazel Park, Michigan, in 1971. Their marriage was built on love, dedication, and shared memories that lasted a lifetime. The two resided in Hazel Park before moving to Warren to continue building their home and family.
Richard proudly worked for Chrysler Automotive Company, where he served as a machine repairman in the skilled trades. Known for his strong work ethic and rule-following nature, he retired in 2013 after many years of dedicated service.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Richard found peace in the outdoors. He especially loved gardening, picnicking, campfires by the lake, and watching beautiful sunsets with Linda by his side. One of his greatest joys was cheering on his grandchildren and their teammates at sporting events never missing a game or activity. His presence in the stands was a constant source of encouragement and pride.
Richard was affectionately known as “Big Guy,” but to his daughters he was known as “Softy”. Richard had a deep love for storytelling and could always captivate those around him with his memories and humor. His family describes him as passionate, determined, goal-oriented, and loving, with a huge heart.
Above all else, Richard loved his family and friends with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the honor of knowing him.
He was the beloved husband of Linda. Loving father of Roxanne (David) Petrovitch, and Shirley (Christopher) Williams. Devoted grandfather of Angela Petrovitch, Natalie Petrovitch, Ryan Petrovitch, Autumn Williams and Paul Williams. Brother of John Horalek and the late Paula Lutzky. Brother-in-law of William Boyd (Betty) Wilkerson, and William Henry (the late Linda Joan) Wilkerson. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews and other loving family members.
