Dick grew up in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan and spent the summers on Torch Lake at their family lake house. He attended Michigan Tech University where he earned his degree in engineering. After graduating, Dick married Cindy on June 22, 1968. They shared a wonderful 54 years together raising their kids. Dick worked at Ford Motor Company where he enjoyed a career as an engineer for almost 30 years. He retired at an early age and was able to spend many years traveling with Cindy.
Tinkering and fixing things came naturally to Dick. He loved working on anything with a motor especially cars and boats. He would find a fix for just about anything. Southern Utah was a second home for Dick and his wife during the winter months. While at home in Michigan he spent his time gardening and keeping his lawn meticulously mowed and manicured. He always looked forward to spending time with his family, whether it was cheering on his grandkids at their sporting events, playing cards, boating, fishing, or camping.
Dick is survived by his wife Cindy; his children Carrie Slancik, Brian Weiler, and Alison (Jeromy) Williams; his grandchildren Brody, Paige, Justin and Carter; and his brother David (Mary) Weiler.
