Robert Ward Collins

Robert Ward Collins, of Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 27, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Gainesboro, Tennessee, on October 3, 1934, Robert was the son of Dewey and Edna (nee Whiteaker) Collins. Though he was born in Tennessee, he spent much of his life in Michigan

Robert had a long and varied career. He worked professionally as a truck driver, drove for a courier service, and even owned a Mobil gas station at one point. His hard work and ambition led him to start his own business as a courier, from which he retired after many years of dedication.

Family was at the heart of Robert’s life. He found joy in spending time with his loved ones, especially his wife, Mazie. He enjoyed many shopping trips and shared moments with Mazie over the years. Robert and Mazie loved to travel together, often going to new places to create memories that would last a lifetime. Robert also had a deep love for his grandchildren—going out to dinner and the movies every single week with them. Outside of family time, Robert had a great love for nature. He could often be found sitting on his swing in his backyard, watching and feeding the birds.

Robert’s interests were as wide as his heart. He enjoyed the simplicity of doing puzzles, watching classic Westerns, and tuning into wrestling and football. Robert enjoyed attending church on Saturdays with his wife, Mazie. Sunday mornings brought him great happiness, as he made breakfast for his family.

Robert will be remembered for his warm smile, his caring heart, and his deep sense of community. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Dear father of the late Bobby (Gail) Collins, Deborah (Brent) Pitre, the late Joe (Dee Dee) Collins, the late Charles (Traci) Walker; Clifford Walker, Kimberly Pikunas, Christopher (Wendy) Collins, Jeffrey (Sandy) Collins, and Michelle (Sam) Abdallah. Adored grandfather of Candice Johnson, Melody Tanner, Roy Litton, Jennifer Persinger, Sabrina Jones, David Collins, Jeremy Collins, Jace Collins, Zachary Collins, Taylor Walker, Taylor Walker, Amber Calderon, Andrew Pikunas, Hailey Cornell, Kyle Collins, Ryan Collins, Dakota Parker, Dalton Collins, Ahmed Abdallah, Gabe Abdallah, and Yasmeen Abdallah. Cherished great grandfather of nineteen, and great-great grandfather of eight.

Visitation for Robert will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm at D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, located at 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, Michigan 48093. The family invites all who knew Robert to come share memories and honor his life.

Robert will be laid to rest on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 11:00 am at Guardian Angel Cemetery, located at 4701 North Rochester Road, Oakland Township, Michigan 48306.

Robert will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
