

Robert Frank McNeilly, age 80, a resident of Warren for over 52 years, died Tuesday June 28, 2016 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren. Bob was born July 26, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Russell and the late Mary (nee: Baumgartner) McNeilly.Bob was raised in Detroit and graduated from Pershing High School. Following his schooling, Bob was called to duty to serve his country during the Korean war. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Bob served from August of 1954 until his honorable discharge in July of 1956. He returned home to Detroit and eventually found work with the United States Postal Service as a dispatcher, a career that spanned many years before retiring.When Bob was not working he could be found working at his home on his lawn and landscaping. All the neighbors complimented Bob on how well kept his home and yard were maintained. When his sons were young, he enjoyed taking them to their hockey practices and games... a true family man that continued to care for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He would always make time for the family and grandkids for outings to the Zoo or to lunch whenever able. Bob also enjoyed watching sports at home including hockey and baseball. Bob's favorite baseball player was Ted Williams and favorite hockey team was the Detroit Red Wings. Bob stayed social, playing poker with his longtime buddies. He was a kind and caring soul that will be forever missed by his family and friends.Bob was the dear father of Robert Jr. (Dawn) McNeilly and John (Ann) McNeilly. He was the loving grandfather of Brian Killebrew, Kathleen (Eric) Kuskowski, Adam McNeilly, Jacob McNeilly, and great-grandfather of Brandon, Nathan, and Lily. Cherished brother of Don (Judy) McNeilly, and the late Russell (Margaret) McNeilly. Memorial Services for Robert will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at First United Methodist Church of Warren, 5005 Chicago Rd., Warren, MI. The Family will receive guests from 10:00 am until time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 am. Officiating the services will be Reverend Pastor Susan Yoemann. Inurnment, with full military honors, will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly Michigan at a later date.Memorial donations are appreciated to the Rainbow Connection, 621 W.
