Roger F. Heintz, age 73 of Warren, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. He was born on December 11, 1937 in Rochester, New York, the son of the late Robert and the late Helen (nee: Bender) Heintz. With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Roger for his service to our country as a sailor in the U.S. Navy. Serving from 1957 to 1961, his duties were realized during one of the most politically charged eras in our country's history, and for that we honor him for the freedoms & liberties we enjoy today because he was there. Following his military service, Roger relocated to Michigan where he has resided for the past 50 years. For over 40 years, Roger worked as a boring mill operator in the tool & die industry. He will forever be remembered as a hard-working family man whose unfailing work ethic was admired by all who knew him. When he wasn't working, (and that wasn't often), one of his favorite pastimes was enjoying a little TV time catching an old movie. Anything on the Turner Classic Channel was a plus,...and he was especially fond of the HBO hit, "The Sopranos." If he was sitting in front of the computer, it probably meant that he was enjoying a little of the on-line poker action that he loved so well. When it came to a rousing game of cards with family or friends, the ever-familiar Euchre was his favorite choice. And he was also a huge fan and appreciator of the old, vintage cars of yesteryear. He got a kick out of watching the car shows and auctions on TV that brought back memories of those cars in their hayday. But for this hard-working man, his greatest devotion was to his family,...ever the great provider. He was always there for them with whatever need they had with his unselfish, giving, and loyal spirit. A beloved husband, dedicated father, loving grandfather, and devoted friend,...he will be immensely missed, but the wonderful memories of how much he gave will live on in the hearts of those whom he touched. He was the beloved husband of the late Lila Marie (nee: Moylan). Dear father of Steven (Jason Waldron) Heintz and Lisa (Charles) Anderson. He is also survived by his extended & loving family; Michael McCoy, Eric (Melitta) McCoy, Shawn McCoy, and Evan. Arrangements were entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Please share memories of Roger at his guest book.
