

Saverio Joseph Fazio, age 84 of Warren, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Mary’s Center in Clinton Township, Michigan with his family at his side. Sal was born June 27, 1937 to the proud parents Vincent and Patrina (nee Adamo) Fazio in their home on Tacoma in Detroit, Michigan.
Sal is the husband of Jan, who passed away in 2015 after 46 years of marriage. Sal is survived by his older brother Benedetto (Ilene) Fazio, and Sister-In-Laws Carol Fazio and Marie Mahaffy, and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, and brothers Natalie Fazio and Phil (Jean) Fazio, and sisters Pauline (George) McNabb and Vinnie (Bob) Fowlds.
Sal worked for many years as an Ornamental Iron Installer for Sherwood Iron Works in Warren, and later at TI Spices in Clinton Township. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy, actively serving from 1954-58, and had to originally have his father sign for his entry into the service due to his youth.
He lived in Warren, Michigan for a large part of his life, lastly on Wexford and Frazho, where he had numerous beautiful beds of flowers. Sal was known for his effervescence and as the “Fun Uncle”, and he was that way up to his last days, and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass is being held on Thursday, October 7th at “Our Lady of Grace Parish – St Cletus Church” (26300 Ryan Rd, Warren, MI), which is on the East side of Ryan, South of I-696 and North of Frazho Rd.
The mass will be at 11 AM, with a gathering/visitation 30 minutes earlier at 10:30 AM in the Narthex of the Church. After the Church Service there will be a luncheon around 12:15 PM, Location To-Be-Determined, and a burial after that at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.
Don’t bother with flowers as we have a large bouquet for the Alter as we are going to keep this simple and uncomplicated, like Sal lived his life.
