Stella Louise Guy, age 92, died on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at her home in Roseville, Michigan. She was born on February 9, 1927 in Cranberry Township, North Carolina to the late Oscar Burleson and the late Florence (nee: Young) Burleson.
As Stella made her way through the teen years, the stage would eventually be set for her future when she met the young man who would change her life, the dashing Raymond C. Guy. A mere acquaintance led to friendship, which ultimately blossomed into romance and a loving relationship that led them both to the altar of marriage. The magical date was July 9, 1947, and the venue was in Tennessee, when the two lovebirds exchanged their vows to become husband & wife which was just the beginning of a long and happy life together.
The year was 1955 when Stella and Raymond decided to pick up stakes and move to the land of opportunity, the wonderful state of Michigan. It was a day and time when prospects were plentiful and work was for the taking, so they answered the call to the Great Lakes State and never turned back. As Raymond went off to work, Stella stayed behind and assumed her daily role as a loving homemaker, wife, and Mom. From the cooking and cleaning to the everyday events and occurrences that called upon her compassion and strengths, Stella stepped up to the plate each and every day with to build upon the comforts of home and hearth and to make her family’s home a place of sanctuary. She embodied many terms of endearment,…from Domestic Engineer to Family Manager, but truly,…a good and faithful mother.
When the chores were behind her and Stella managed to find a little “me time” in her day, quite often you would find her heading out to the garden where she loved to hone her skills as a consummate gardener. With the tender-loving-care of a horticulturalist, and a thumb as green as the grass, Stella loved planting flowers and tilling the soil, nurturing its growth in the hopes of attaining a thing of beauty and splendor for all to partake and enjoy.
But of all that brought her the most joy, nothing could match the love and devotion she held for her precious family, the true lights of her life. Family meant the world to Stella, and she possessed just the right blend of humor and kindness, intelligence and Godliness, happiness and gentleness,…all of which melded together in a love for the ages, and one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. A loving wife, mother, and a grandmother at three levels, Stella’s quiver was definitely full with generations of love and children that brought sunshine into her heart with every visit. She leaves behind a legacy of love for all to embrace with each reflection shared. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
Beloved wife of the late Raymond. Loving mother of RC (Yolanda), Norman, Steven, and the late Timothy.
