Sylvia T. Brazen, age 87 of Warren, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the Autumn Woods Health Care Facility in Warren. She was born on October 3, 1923 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Albert and the late Clara (nee: Imbrovicz) Tobianski. With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we honor Mrs. Brazen for her service to our country during World War II as a Flight Nurse in the United States Air Force. A decorated veteran, she was stationed at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township, Michigan. Following the war years, Mrs. Brazen continued in her expertise and capacity as a registered nurse until her retirement. When she wasn't working, Mrs. Brazen was an avid reader. Some quiet time found her nestled up, enjoying the pleasures and solitude of a good book. She also liked to work with her hands and spent many hours knitting and crotcheting unique pieces for Children's Hospital in Detroit. Also, like most of us who have a favorite vacation spot that calls our name, one of Mrs. Brazen's was the beachside town of Port Austin, Michigan. Its peaceful serenity provided her the R&R that revived and refreshed her soul. She was also a woman whose faith was very important to her. In her younger years, she was quite active at her parish, St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Warren. Mrs. Brazen was the beloved wife of the late Frank. She was the dear mother of Diane Brazen and David (Dr. Karen Larson) Brazen. Grandmother of Joe, Meagan, Evan, and Ashley. Visitation for Mrs. Brazen will be held on Wednesday, June 9 from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. She will lie in state Thursday, 10:00am at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Warren, until the time of Mass at 10:30am. Memorial donations are welcomed to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt. Elliott Street, Detroit, MI 48207. Please share memories of Mrs. Brazen at her guest book.
