Terry Lee Marshall, age 66 of Warren, passed away at home on November 27, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 8, 1954 in Detroit, daughter of the late Oren Edward and the late Sharon Lee (nee: Lloyd) Elkins.
When considering the many career choices at our disposal, every now & then a person gets the lucky draw of the lottery and manages to get the perfect job,…just like Terry when she landed the gig as a “Karaoke Koordinator.” That’s right, night after night, Terry had the amazing opportunity of orchestrating the fun and frivolity of helping people come to the stage and do their best rendition of their favorite music delights. From the impressive to the disastrous, it all made for some great times amongst friends,…and Terry was always the happy facilitator of it all. And not merely the producer & director, Terry was also known for having some great pipes of her own. With talents that lie deep inside, Terry had an immense passion for singing,…and she was quite amazing as well.
Terry, like many of us, liked to travel as well, and was quite taken by many of the scenic and magnificent pleasures she captured along the way,…especially when the venue afforded her the beauty and grandeur of a waterfall. There’s just something mesmerizing about watching the majesty of the waters cascading over the cliff and down to the awaiting riverbed,…and Terry never grew tired of the handiwork of God.
Many will also remember and covet the reflections of Terry’s “silly side.” She had a unique and wonderful sense of humor, and found great joy in sharing that with everybody. This was never more true than in trying to snap a half-way serious photograph of her,…it just wasn’t going to happen. The family scrapbook is rife with pictures of Terry, but all with a touch of her silliness woven in. That same humor and whimsy was evident in her collection of frogs. Possessing her own, diminutive Kermit Kastle at home, Terry had an affinity for the little pond creatures that represented a sense of joy and happiness for her.
But with all things considered, the greatest joys in life were those shared with her beloved family and dearest friends,…and often that simply meant being together and sharing warm conversation. Of course, the family bonds were strong and that is where she garnered her sweetest passions,…especially when it came to her precious grandchildren They were the light of her life and always managed to lift her spirits higher with each visit. And it didn’t hurt that Terry was an amazing Grandma, too.
A loving wife, mom and grandma, Terry made a wonderful impact on all the lives that passed through hers as she journeyed this side of Heaven. May she now enjoy the blessings on the other side, prepared for her from the beginning of time. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Terry was the beloved wife of Kevin Marshall. Loving mother of Shawn Freeman, Jonathon (Jennifer) Freeman, Georgette (Fiancé, Mike Bell) Freeman, Jennifer Freeman, Jillian (Jason) Kilburn, and Michael Freeman. Dear sister of Edward Elkins. Cherished grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of 4.
Visitation for Terry will be held Tuesday, December 1st from 3:30 – 9:00 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren, Michigan.
