Thaddeus Joseph Keller, age 93 of Warren, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at Ascension Providence Hospital in Rochester, Michigan. He was born on May 4, 1926, in Rossford, Ohio, son of the late Simon and the late Anna (nee: Dudek) Kornasiewicz.
He was 18 years old when he enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1944 to 1946 in World War II in the European Theater with pride and patriotism.
Born and raised in Rossford, Ohio, and later Toledo, Ohio, he became an Ohio State University fan, which he maintained even when he ultimately moved to the state of Michigan and added the Detroit Tigers to the list of teams and sports he enjoyed. What he also obtained in Michigan was a career with the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Command (TACOM) in Warren, Michigan where he was an Automotive Equipment Inspector. He especially enjoyed corresponding and being a liaison with those who were serving our nation out in the field and overseas. Following many years of service, excellence, and dedication to work, he finally accepted his well-deserved retirement to pursue a bit more relaxation.
It wasn’t all relaxation though. Thaddeus, who often went by "Ted", kept busy tending to his home and garden, which he took great pride in. His garden was where you would often find him surrounded by flowers and plantings, which he meticulously maintained and many admired. He also extended his hard working ethics to the people around him - he was always quick to lend a helping hand and truly enjoyed doing what he could to make someone else's life easier.
On a more relaxing note, he loved to read for enjoyment and also to stay informed and gain knowledge. Another of his favorite things to do was writing letters to family and friends. He knew the joy of receiving something personal in the mail and did his part to extend that joy to others. Each letter was an extension of his heart and intellect,…and, by the way, was written with the most perfect and impressive penmanship, which simply made each recipient all the more eager to receive them. Another entertaining activity he enjoyed was playing cards and games with family and friends - he loved the competition, as well as the friendly banter and conversation throughout.
A loving husband and father, he enjoyed 69 years of marriage and commitment to his beautiful wife, Mabel. Together they raised two dear daughters. He may be passing on ahead, but memories of Thaddeus are bound to keep him close with each reflection shared. He will be missed immensely - loved eternally.
Thaddeus was the beloved husband of Mabel, and the cherished father of Linda (Charles) Goossens and Janet Keller (Timothy).
Funeral Services have been arranged by the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan. Private service with burial following at Resurrection Cemetery.
