

Theresa Fredal, 83, of Warren died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at William Beaumont Hospital, Troy. She was born July 5, 1924 in Germany to the late Karl and Theresia Schmitt. At the age of 5 Theresa immigrated to the United States with her family. She attended the University of Michigan where she earned a Bachelors of Music in 1945. She worked as a teacher in Detroit Public Schools and Warren Con. In 1948 Theresa married the love of her life, Francis. While raising their six children Theresa was always willing to make whatever sacrifices were necessary in order to raise them properly and put them all through college. She felt being a stay at home mom was incredibly important and so was giving the gift of education. She always wanted to be remembered as a good wife and mother. Theresa personality was no nonsense, practical, hardworking and charitable. She was very spiritual, loved to laugh and enjoyed debate. Theresa was an avid reader and enjoyed playing piano, Christmas sing-a-longs, and crocheting. She had made a total of 187 afghans, most of which were given to the Capuchins for the homeless, where she often volunteered. Theresa was also considered the family child care expert. One of Theresas favorite sayings was: Its not what you have, but what you do. Theresa is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Francis; children, Marian (Greg Higby), Judith (Rayne) Pang, Barbara (Jose Carrera), Loretta (James) Zimes, James (Brenda Bruggemenn) and Beverly (John) Buczak; and 14 grandchildren. Visitation for Theresa will be Tuesday 2-9 pm with a 7:00 pm scripture service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover at Common (12 Mile). She will lie in state 9:30 am Wednesday at St. Clement Catholic Church until the time of the funeral mass at 10:00. Officiating the funeral mass will be Rev. Fr. Mike Gawlowski.
