Thomas Carroll Below

Thomas Carroll Below, age 74 of Mount Clemens, died Thursday, April 15, 2004 at Mount Clemens General. He was born August 19, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Alma (nee: Johnson) Henriksen and the late Joseph Below. He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie (nee: Whitford) Below, his mother, Alma Henriksen, his children, Timothy Below, Judith Below, and John (Bernadette) Below. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Lana, Sarah, Erik, Alec, and Tommy and great-grandson, Thomas. Mr. Below was raised in Detroit and graduated from East Detroit High School. He served in the Army during Korean War, having attained the rank of Private 1st Class. After returning from the Army the first thing he did was to marry his high school sweetheart Bonnie. Mr. Below was a salesman his whole life and went on to sell major appliances to local stores through White-Westinghouse. Mr. Below dearly loved his wife, family and grandchildren. His son said there was not a sweeter man to know, than his father, he would help anyone unconditionally. Besides his family, Mr. Below loved to party with his friends, he was a regular at the Rec Bowl in Mt. Clemens. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, baseball, and spending time with his wife. Mr. Below was a voracious reader and very well versed in history and many military wars and conflicts. His friends and family will also remember Mr. Below as the unofficial Mayor of Mt. Clemens, for being a regular guy, a peoples type of person, without pretense. Mr. Below was a member of the Mt. Clemens Moose Lodge, the Eagles of Mt. Clemens, and the AMVETS. The Below family will welcome friends at the Wm R. Hamilton Funeral Home Groesbeck Chapel in Mt. Clemens, 226 Crocker Boulevard (between Harper and Cass), on Tuesday April 20th from 1-7 pm. Memorial services will follow the visitation at 7:00 P.M., officiating the Memorial Service will be the Rev. Fr. Eugene Strain.
