

Thomas Gene Bynum, 76, of Warren died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at St. John Macomb Oakland-Macomb Center. He was born February 23, 1932 in Murray, Kentucky to the late John and Hilda Bynum. As a young man Thomas moved to Michigan from Kentucky in 1943 with his family. While visiting family back in Kentucky, he was set up on a blind date with a college girl named Betty. Thomas and Betty were married August 7, 1955 and moved to Warren where they started their family. During the Korean Conflict, Thomas served his country as an Army Paratrooper. For a time he worked at Michigan Dynamic, but then moved on to Automation Service Equipment, from which he retired in 1994. When Thomas was younger he enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and hunting. He was a fan of the Lions, Pistons and Red Wings, especially when they were winning. He also enjoyed watching Nascar and Indy racing. After retirement he enjoyed donating money to the Michigan Lottery. Mr. Bynum is survived by his loving wife, Betty; children, Tom and his wife, Joyce, Tim and Beth Swastek; grandchildren, Andrew Swastek, Jonathan Swastek and Samantha Bynum; step-granddaughter, Shannon Carducci; and sister, Joan Hudaski. Visitation for Mr. Bynum will be Wednesday from 3-7 pm followed by a funeral service at 7:00 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover at Common (12 Mile). The service will be officiated by Rev. Lillian Easterly-Smith. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are appreciated to the American Lung Association, 25900 Greenfield Rd, suite #401, Oak Park, MI 48237.
