Thomas E. Cole, age 60 of Warren, died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Heartland Health Care Center Georgian East in Grosse Pointe. He was born on April 21, 1953 in Royal Oak, Michigan, son of the late George and the late Irene (nee: Baldwin) Cole. Though Tom had much to be thankful for, nothing came close to the joy and blessings he knew through the life he shared with his beautiful bride, Jane. The relationship they shared was not only special, but enhanced by the romantic touches Tom showered upon her throughout their many years together. From all the little gifts, to the many heartfelt cards,…there was never a question about the love he possessed, and a love that he nurtured with the utmost in care. When Tom wasn't plying his trade as a commercial electrician, one of his favorite things to do was travel. He was quite the scenery snatcher and enjoyed adding new and wonderful points of interest to his traveling portfolio. But perhaps even more special was the opportunity of introducing and sharing this pastime with Jane. Together, they were blessed to visit several spectacular venues, many of which she had never seen before. Some of Tom's other passions could often be found through one of two sides,…either his love of sports, or that of the arts. Though both could, obviously, be painted with a broad brush, the arts reflected his love of music and paintings, and his sporting blood was definitely centered around golf and NASCAR. When it came to music, Tom shared quite an eclectic taste in the massive venue,…as was evidenced by the massive collection of CD's he amassed over the years. As for the paintings he enjoyed, Tom's appreciation for art was most notably enjoyed through the works of his favorite painter, Thomas Kinkade. The "Painter of Light" surely bestowed a warmth and creativity that Tom came to love.As for that sporting side, there were not a lot of activities that could spell "fun & entertainment" like a sunny day on the links trying to tame those woods and irons,…and that pesky putter, too! Always looking to capture golf's holy grail, the infamous Hole-in-One,…Tom absolutely loved to golf and never gave up the search. His other proclivity was found in the sport of racing,…more specifically, Stock Car Racing. There was just something about all that power, and the roar of 43 cars rounding the track at 200 mph, that fed his motorsports hunger and kept him coming back for more. Yet of all the things that brought him joy and meant the most, it was the love of family that reigned supreme. Tom loved all those special moments that they created together,…especially the holiday memories around Thanksgiving and Christmas. The legacy of love he leaves to treasure is immeasurable and immense,…and it touched many hearts and lives along the way. May his memory bring a warm embrace with each reflection that is shared and felt. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Tom was the beloved husband of Jane, and the loving father of Christina (Mike) Chalmers and Roger (Lisa) Chalmers. Cherished grandfather of Mikayla, Donovan, Christian, and David. Dear brother of Jerry Cole. A Memorial Service for Tom will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 17th at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road) in Warren. Please share memories of Tom at his memory book.
