Thomas Paul Finch, age 58 of Warren, died Friday, January 27, 2017 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. He was born September 16, 1958 in Highland Park, son of the late Francis and the late Virginia (nee: Cavazos) Finch.A machinist by trade in the automotive industry, Tom's best work was found in the charitable and philanthropic outreaches he was an integral part of throughout his life. It's been said that we will all experience 15 minutes of fame in life, and Tom's came in his earlier years when the Port Huron Herald published an article of his involvement with the "30th Annual March of Dimes Jail and Bail," a fundraiser he supported yearly. The article featured a heartwarming story along with a picture of Tom holding the 1988 March of Dimes Poster Child in his arms,…quite a testimony to Tom's compassionate spirit of giving. And from Tom's devout faith in God came another of his outreach sources as a member of the Catholic church's, Knights of Columbus. It was a wonderful way of enjoying the benefits of fraternal brotherhood, as well as taking part in the many ways the Knights touch and change their community. Following his years of membership, Tom was quite proud and honored to have achieved the level of 3rd Degree Knight. When he wasn't working or involved charitably, Tom was a guy who found great enjoyment in the outdoors. Sometimes for gaming,…sometimes for competition,…but always for fun. When it came to his gaming proclivities, they were enjoyed in the sports of hunting and fishing. Always looking for the "Big One," Tom could master a deer blind of a fishing boat with the best of them,…and never gave up his search. Another pastime he enjoyed was spending time on the links,…again, in search of the Big One, the infamous Hole-in-One. Not much spells "fun" like being with friends or loved ones enjoying a sunny day on the golf course, but Tom managed to create lots of wonderful memories swingin' the clubs and working towards the Ol' 19th Hole.Yet of all the memories and moments that brought him joy, nothing could match the elation he experienced each time he was spending time with family. They were the light of his life and the ones that made it all worthwhile. A loving husband, father and brother, Tom's legacy will be one of helping others and considering others more important than himself,…a true testament to the man God called him to be. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Thomas was the beloved husband of Jill, and the loving father of Zach and Benjamin Finch. He was also the dear brother of Anthony, Matthew, and the late Frank. A Memorial Visitation for Thomas will take place on Saturday, March 25th from 10:00 am until the time of his Memorial Service at 12:00 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Please share memories of Thomas at his memory book above.
