Violet Doubleday, 87, of Warren, died Saturday, March 4, 2006 at St. John Macomb Hospital. Violet was born December 10, 1918 in Detroit, to Walter and Mary Radwanski. She grew up in Hamtramck. On June 21, 1941 Violet married Louis Doubleday at St. Florian Catholic Church. They started their family in Hamtramck and decided to move to Warren in June of 1963. A lot of their neighbors from the old neighborhood moved into the same area, so it was like they never left their old friends. One of her favorite pastimes was sitting on the porch visiting with the neighbors, especially Maria who she called her "Guardian Angel". Violet was considered the family historian. She loved to spend time with family on birthdays and holidays. She loved gardening, especially propegating roses. She was a wonderful cooka and baker. Apple and pumpkins pies were Violet's specialty. She had a special fondness for animals, especially her Schnauzer, Candy. After her husband died, Violet became completely self-sufficient. She learned to drive at the age of 60 and was still out on the road until her recent illness. Violet loved to crochet. She would sell her items at craft shows using the business name "Violet's crocheted creations". Mrs. Doubleday is the beloved wife of the late Louis. Dearest mother of Carol (George) Allen and Daniel (Ruth) Doubleday. Loving grandmother of Marsha, Rodney, Alicia, Andrew, Ryan, and Christopher and great grandmother of 4. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-9:00 pm with a 6:00 pm scripture service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover at Common (12 1/2 Mile). Wednesday, 10:30 a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Sylvester Catholic Church. The Mass will be officiated by Fr. Gary Schulte. Interment will take place at White Chapel Cemetery.
