

William (Bill) Dial was born on March 17, 1946 in Pembroke NC to Stella Mae Dial and William (Son) Everette Locklear.
Following a career of over 40 years at Chrysler, Bill retired in his role as a supervisor. After his retirement, he went on to work and serve the Native American community at American Indian Health and Family Services for a valuable 11 years.
Bill loved fishing and had the most fun out on his boat with his grandkids and friends. He also held a deep loyalty to the sport of NASCAR.
His love for good food inspired him to prepare meals for others around him, especially at his yearly fish fry. His family will always remember him as a man of service who enjoyed helping others and greeting them with a warm smile.
Bill was a proud member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina and an active member of the Masons. Above all else, he held his beloved family in the highest regard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kathy Howard Dial and his children William Freddie Dial Jr., Charles Richard Dial, Shellye Renee (John) Ledbetter and Crystal Chaye Dial; his grandchildren Dante Bret Dial, Cheyenne Ashlyn Dial, Madison Paige Dial, Nevaeh Renee Ledbetter, Faith Elsie Dial, Anabella Grace Dial, Olivia Hope Dial, Nevin Paul Ledbetter, and great-grandchild Miia Nizhoni Sagan, siblings Furman (Eleate) Dial, Fayelene (Milton) Locklear, Ronald Dial, Irene “Wanda” Dial, Elizabeth “Renee” Chavis, Sandy Chavis, Randy Chavis, Cindy Locklear, and Bruce Brooks. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in passing by his father William (Son) Locklear, his mother Stella Dial-Chavis and his step-father Randall W. Chavis; sister Gloria Ann Dial; daughter Gloria Ann Dial; granddaughter Jo Hannah Dial, nephews Marcus Locklear, Allan Locklear and Cameron Dial.
Bill will be laid to rest at Prospect Community Church in Maxton, NC beside his daughter, mother, sister and generations of family members.
