William "Bill" Louis Edwards, age 79 of Sterling Heights, died at Beaumont Hospital in Troy on June 29, 2021. He was born on September 9, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to his late parents, William R. and Helen (nee: Weber) Edwards.
With over 40 years of work experience upon retiring, Bill was quite proud of the mark he made in the world through his skills as an engineer. From the 15 years he spent at Westinghouse, to the 25 years that followed working as a self-employed entrepreneur, Bill precision and meticulous nature was more than evident in his work and attracted a great deal of attention from those who would become prospective clients.
Yet for as hard as he worked, Bill knew how to strive towards a little balance in life by enjoying some unique & interesting pastimes and hobbies,…like that as a Ham Radio Operator. A hobby you don’t hear very much about these days, but one which remains quite popular amongst enthusiasts like Bill. Also, where his engineering experiences drew more from the cerebral of his qualities, he was equally adept with his hands as evidenced through the many works of art he created as a woodworker. Bill loved taking a piece of wood and sculpting it just right to meet the vision that his artistic mind had created,…and he was quite good. Yet when his sporting nature called his name, it was off to the golf course he went. Nothing says fun quite like the game of golf, especially when you’re sharing the experience with a fellow swinger on a beautiful sunny day. Always in search of that elusive Hole-in-One, Bill simply enjoyed the age old game that afforded his skills a good workout on the course.
There is so much that Bill will be remembered for, but perhaps none-so-much as his deep and abiding faith in God. He loved the Lord, and he loved ministering as a volunteer at church. A longtime parishioner of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren, Bill found great enjoyment in giving of his time and talents whenever the need arose. Always from an altruistic nature, Bill was merely a humble servant seeking to be used, and to be a blessing for others. He truly lived out the Golden Rule throughout his walk.
But of all the joys and pleasures that touched Bill’s heart, none were more precious and treasured than the moments shared with family and friends. We interact with many people in life, but it’s those we come home to that touch our lives the most,…and Bill was blessed with a house full of love to call his own. A loving husband, father and brother, Bill was blessed to share his love, and that of his Lord & Savior’s as well, with the many hearts and souls that passed through his life. Bill’s life and ministry will forever be remembered, as will that warm and comforting smile that many came to know and enjoy. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
Bill was the beloved husband of Frances. Dear father of William Edwards, Kristine (Garret) Achenbach, Jeanne (Chris) Campbell, and the late Kenneth (Michelle) Edwards. Brother of Marie Devlin, and the late Robert Edwards. Loving grandfather of Sydney, Cassidy, Kayla, Taylor, and Colten.
Visitation for Bill will be held Friday, July 2nd from 3-9 pm at the D.S Temrowski and Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren, MI 48093. He will lie In State on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 9:30 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Rd, Warren, MI 48093. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
