William Anthony Krenz, age 83 of Warren, died Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Evangelical Home Nursing Center in Sterling Heights, Michigan. He was born August 26, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Anthony and the late Helen (nee: Janiszewski) Krenz.A journey which began in 1932 found William and his siblings growing up on the northwest side of Chicago, he being the eldest of 4 which was comprised of three boys and one girl. The years would pass and his schooling ensue until that glorious day when he switched his tossil, threw up his hat, and became part of the graduating class from Carl Schurz High School. Not long afterwards, Bill's life took a wonderful turn when he invited his high school sweetheart to join him on his journey through life,…and she said, "Yes!" The year was 1952, the setting was both romantic and humbling, and the air was filled with love as William Krenz and Patricia Dodrv shared their vows and became husband & wife,…and a brand new journey was launched.Grateful to have the love and support of his newlywed bride, Bill answered the call to serve our country and did so with pride and patriotism as a soldier in the U.S. Army. Ultimately attaining the rank of Private First Class, Bill was assigned the duties of a Military Police Officer and served from 1952 thru 1954 during the Korean War era. With thanks and praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Bill for his service to our great nation and for his willingness to stand in harm's way on behalf of America, and our allies alike. Following his military service, Bill returned to his Chicago roots and found his career niche in repairing office equipment and machinery. After sharing the next 15 years of his talents and expertise within the industry, Bill was both proud and elated in accepting a promotion to Branch Manager with his current company, Olivetti. It was 1969 and Bill was just 37 years old when he made the decision to relocate his family to the burgeoning, bedroom community of Warren, Michigan,…a new chapter in their journey that found he and Patricia building upon the warmth and love of home & hearth, raising a beautiful family with 3 sons and 3 daughters, and growing deeper in love with each passing day. Bill worked a total of 40 years and ultimately retired from the Bell Atlantic company in 1995. As for his time away from the job, Bill enjoyed a number a pastimes and hobbies,…especially when it came to tending his garden, dabbling a bit with his talents in woodworking, and making golf clubs. And not merely making golf clubs, Bill found great enjoyment in swinging them as well. There was nothing more perfect than spending a sunny & gorgeous day with someone special on the links,…always in search of that elusive "Hole-in-One." Another sporting rod he loved to exercise had a piece of bait on a hook at the end of his fishing pole,…that's right,…always in search of that elusive "Big One." And if he wasn't golfing or fishing, you'd often find Bill volunteering his time and efforts, either as the active leader he was with the Boy Scouts or in his role with the Holy Name Society which spanned many years.Yet without question, Bill's greatest joys came from right at home in the love and relationships that gave him reason for living. Family meant everything to Bill and he never held back in providing each of them a perfect balance of the strength and softness that a real Dad conveys. A loving husband, father and grandfather (yes,…to all you "greats" as well),…Bill leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be treasured and embraced with each reflection shared. And from time to time, there's bound to be a chuckle or two as memories come flooding back of his witty, joke telling side and the laughter that always ensued. He was very proud of his loving family, and impressed by their independence and productive qualities,…Gee, I wonder where they got that from? He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
