

45 of Highview Drive , Bristol died Wednesday October 20, 2010 at RI Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth Tavares. Allen was a devoted, loving, family man who cherished his family. He loved to travel especially to amusement parks throughout the east coast.
Allen was an avid collector of sports memrobilia . His favorite sport teams were the home teams the Patriots, Red Sox and the Celtics
He was a protector and proud father of his 5 children and thrilled to be a papa. He was a member of the vaccine paralytic polio team who changed history when Allen and team members didn't want one more person to be stricken with polio because of the live vaccine.
Because of Allen the sabin polio vaccine is no longer used, Allen was the last documented case of contracting polio through the live sabin vaccine.
He hosted annual Christmas parties for the handicpped and seniors and enjoyed their company. His favorite holiday was Christmas. He had a tradition of reading T'was the night before Christmas on Christmas eve. God bless you Allen you will be missed and loved through eternity. Rest in Peace.
Besides his wife he is survived by 2 sons Manny D. and Allen E. Tavares Jr., 3 daughters Cassondra C., Christina E., and Crystal L. Tavares of Bristol. He had 1 granddaughter Aribella C. Tavares Brother of Donny W. Murry . He was the grandson of Edith Minot who raised him and son in law of Ruth Tavares and the late Donald Tavares Brother in law of Tim and Brenda Donovan and Liz Murry of Warwick and Pamela Triana of FL.
A Graveside Service was held at Forest Chapel Cemetery Tuesday October 26, 2010 at 10 am followed by a Memorial Service at 11 am in St. John's Episcopal Church, County Road, Barrington.
