Born in East Providence, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Elizabeth (Baxter) Peloquin.
Arthur began his extensive career at Rhode Island Hospital in 1954 as a Staff Nurse. By 1955 he was promoted to Head Nurse, and eventually Nursing Supervisor. He moved into Administration when the hospital built the new Jane Brown Building. By the time he retired, Arthur was the Vice President of Rhode Island Hospital and even stayed on for several years as a consultant.
A devoted family man and a wonderful grandfather, Arthur was also a talented gardener. He was a rock to his family and brought immense wisdom, kindness and love to all who knew him. Arthur was a true gentleman and knew the value of hard work and the strength of humility. His legacy is not just in the years he lived, but in the lives he touched, the hearts he warmed, and the one’s he inspired.
Arthur ‘Pop’ is survived by one son, Arthur B. Peloquin of Murrells Inlet, SC; three daughters, Jeanne E. Peloquin, Barbara P. Furtado, and Elizabeth P. Baker all of Bristol; three grandsons, Michael Ventura and Gerald Furtado and his wife Caitlyn, and the late Nicholas T. Baker; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Payden, Michelle Hower, and Ryan Ventura; four great-great-grandchildren, Celia and Eloise Payden, and Ethan and Emma Hower as well as several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main St., Warren. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial in North Burial Ground, Bristol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Arthur’s name may be made to Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice by visiting www.visitingnursehh.org
