Elaine Ann (Krebs) Kustell, 84, of Newport, Rhode Island, and a longtime resident of Clarence, New York, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at Newport Hospital, with her beloved son Carl by her side.
Born in Buffalo, New York, Elaine was the cherished daughter of the late Patrick C. Krebs and Alfreda (Nowicki) Krebs. She was the devoted wife of the late Carl B. Kustell, with whom she shared 57 years of loving marriage. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and lasting memories. She was a loving mother to Carl P. Kustell (Melissa) and Kimberly Kustell; and devoted grandmother to Jackson, Spencer, and Elliot.
Elaine was raised in Gowanda and Buffalo and graduated from Kensington High School while working late nights at a movie theater. She began her career at Bell Telephone as a teenage switchboard operator and rose to District Manager. She later became a devoted stay-at-home mother in Clarence, raising her two children with care and dedication.
Elaine was known for her warmth, humor, and generous spirit. She was a longtime member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Williamsville, New York. In 2023, she moved to Rhode Island to be closer to family.
A former model, Elaine carried herself with grace throughout her life. She was an avid golfer and three-time club champion, and she loved music, sports, and gardening. She especially cherished time with her grandchildren, caring for them, sharing meals, playing games, and proudly attending their activities.
Elaine will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and steady presence. She made those around her better by her example and will be deeply missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 28, 2026, at St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St., Warren, RI, followed by inurnment at North Burial Ground in Providence. Arrangements are in the care of Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main Street, Warren, RI 02885.
