Liked her. That was an accomplishment in and of itself. She liked opera. And had a smart mouth. Like I said I liked her.

I was in sewing class with Fran about 14 years ago. She was a great lady. If I am half as active as she was at her age I will consider my life well lived. May your memories of times together comfort you during this difficult time.

 I am so sad with this news. 
 I was Fran's sewing teacher for years and she would sub for me when I was on vacation.  I can't believe the world still spins without this wonderful woman. I was told tonight by a fellow students daughter who is now taking sewing lesson.  I didn't believe it was her and she pulled up this page for me.  This is awful news I can't believe I will no longer talk to my friend.

She was a great teacher and may she rest in peace

I was very saddened to read of the passing of Fran Martin, a respected former colleague and outstanding teacher. My thoughts are with Charlie and the Martin family at this sad time.

I am sorry to hear of Miss Martin's passing. Over fourty years ago she was my French teacher in Middletown, where she was one of the top three teachers I've was lucky enough to have in my educational journey. And I hated French!

Ms Martin was smart, funny, and kind.  I was really lucky to have her for a teacher.  It's been too many years, but I remember being in her French class like it was yesterday.

She was one of my favorite teachers at MHS (class of 1969) and had a genuine interest for her students and our drama club.  I fondly remember the special acting sessions we had with her for our production of "The Bald Soprano".

She was one of the highlights of my High School Days, i came in from Catholic School and she put me in the class with the Juniors and Seniors when I was a wee freshman.  She was smart, street wise, very cool.  I will always have a place in my heart for this wonderful soul.  God Bless her.  Je me manque de vous MLLE Martin!

I want to offer my condolences to the Martin family.  I'm so sorry about Fran, I know she will be missed dearly.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Miss Frances ("Millie") Martin, a great French teacher at MHS and a wonderful person. She was funny, worldly, kind, and she had a devilish sparkle in her eye. I learned far more about the English language from her than I did in English, and for that I am thankful to this day. I felt privileged to be in her class and I thoroughly enjoyed her style. I wish I had known she was an avid golfer -- I would have loved to play a round with her.

I suspect that, like so many others, it will be hard to hear the words "Michel, Anne, vous travaillez?" and not smile when thinking about the impact that Mme Martin had on all of us who attended her classes at MHS.  Her classes were inspiring because of her enthusiasm for the French language and culture. She will be greatly missed - I agree with Lisa Smith Bohner completely - we are better for having had the opportunity to have her touch our lives. My prayers are with her family and friends.

I want to offer my deepest sympathy to all the Martins'. Miss Martin was my french teacher for 3 years at Middletown High in the mid 60's. I always liked her class. What a wonderful person and engaging teacher so many of us experienced in Miss Martin's classroom.  She was fun, expressive and kept us on our toes with a wink and a smile.  My heart goes out to her family and friends at her passing.  May you find peace in knowing that she touched so many over the years, and we are better for it.

I will never forget the hours I spent in Mlle. Martin's class. I enjoyed her stories and she was one of my favorite teachers. I actually had the privilege of being a former student of both Mlle. Martin and Mr. Martin.
