Born in Warren, he was the son of the late Peter Soares and Arcangela (Santos) Soares.
Manuel worked as a weaver at Narrow Fabrics before proudly joining the United States Army, where he served overseas until his honorable discharge in 1957. Upon returning to civilian life, he married, raised his family, and worked as a Welder for Tower Iron Works in Seekonk, MA for most of his career until they closed. He then worked as a Custodian for Warren High School for many years until his retirement.
Manuel was an avid gardener and fisherman spending as much time as he could doing both. He also enjoyed trips to Foxwoods. He was a member of the Cape Verdean Club in East Providence where he could always be found out on the dance floor. His love of Cape Verdean music led him to take up playing the violin later in his life which he enjoyed and shared with his granddaughter Emily.
Manuel is survived by his three sons, Ronald M. Soares of Warren, Kenneth M. Soares and his wife Kay of Warren and David M. Soares and his wife Priscilla of Swansea, MA: granddaughter Emily and her husband Brad Vaccaro, and grandson Tyler Soares, all of Warren, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Peter Soares, and Mary (Soares) DeBritto both of Providence.
Due to current occupancy restrictions, his Funeral Service and Burial will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Wilbur-Romano, Warren.
