Richard A. Pacheco, Jr. has gone home to his Lord and Savior in the early morning of May 30, 2022 at the RI Veterans home in Bristol. Richard was 89 years old and a resident of both Bristol and Warren through the years. He was the loving husband of Karen (Harnois) Pacheco to whom he has been married for 23 years.
Born in Warren, a son of the late Richard A. Pacheco, Sr. and the late Celia (Amaral) Pacheco. He was predeceased by his brother William Pacheco.
A Veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a Military Police Officer during the Korean War. After the Korean War he worked at Kaiser Aluminum but left there for ultimately his heart was on the river quahoging. He then went into heavy construction where he was a foreman on many of his jobs, with many different landmarks, some being the Newport Bridge, Hospital Trust building in Providence and Roger Williams College.
After construction, he ran his own stable called Maple Shade Stables for many years. A lifelong dream of his. Some people called him the horse whisperer for how he could get horses in a trailer so well.
He was a proud member of the Defiance Fire Station and the Bristol VFW. You could always find him in Colt’s state Park walking his beloved BoJangles. His favorite passed times was boating, horseback riding along the old railroad tracks, building kit boats as a winter passed time, rocking his grandbabies in the hammock on the farm, but most of all was spending time with his loving wife.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Robert Pacheco of Bristol and Thomas Pacheco and daughter-in-law Debora Pacheco, also from Bristol, RI. His three granddaughters, Casey Chantre (Nicklaus) from Norwich, CT, Brittany Wasik (John) from Bridgewater, Mass and Brooke Pacheco (Kayla) from Salem, NH. And two beautiful great grandchildren, Olivia and Liam Wasik. Also survived by his sister Priscilla Noble (Tookey) from Henderson, NV and Carol Berg (Carl) from Warren, RI. And several nieces and nephews.
His visiting hours will be Friday, June 10, 2022 from 9:00 - 10:30 AM in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in the Rhode Island Veteran's Home, Bristol.
