Sam began his career with Weyerhaeuser Company on the west coast, moved to Pittsburgh where he met and married Trish, and was then transferred to Rhode Island. Subsequently, Sam became an accomplished insurance agent and financial advisor. He founded Sylvester Associates, a retirement and insurance planning firm, with his sons in 1994. He coached his four sons and their teams in hockey and soccer with a sense of humor and competitiveness. Sam loved being on the water, sailing and racing along the east coast and to Bermuda, Portugal, and the Caribbean. He was an avid skier and traveled the world with family and friends, leaving his mark along the way with his charm, wit and generosity.
Sam is survived by Trish, his wife for 53 years, and his four sons and daughter-in-laws, Sam and Sharon, Derek and Liz, Pete and Jill, Steve and Asma as well as his grandchildren, Kelly, Taylor, Lily, Ben, Mikey, Max, Noah, Caleb and Ruby.
