Devoted mother of Theodore Webster Libbey, Jr. (Janet), Scott Alexander Libbey, and Chase Cunningham Libbey (Lisa).
A native of Washington, D.C., she married Theodore Webster Libbey in 1945. During the next seven decades she presided over her family’s life in the suburbs of Washington, Baltimore, New York, and Richmond, before returning to Washington in 1967. A long-time resident of Kenwood, she was active for many years in its Garden Club.
Services will be held in the chapel at Joseph Gawler’s Sons,5130 Wisconsin Avenue, N.W. (corner of Harrison Street), Washington, D.C., on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 1 p.m. A private burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kenwood Garden Club, c/o Nancy Roualet, 5320 Chamberlin Ave., Chevy Chase, MD 20815. Alternatively, friends are encouraged to consider a gift in Barbara’s memory to the charity of their choice.
