Barclay Howe

Barclay Gardner Howe, beloved husband of Judith DuLyn Howe, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025. He was a resident of Simsbury until moving to Bethesda Maryland in 2021. Born on September 1, 1941 in Glen Cove, NY to Nathaniel Saltonstall and Margaret Barclay Howe, he was raised in Oyster Bay, NY. He attended St Paul’s School in Concord, NH and graduated from Yale University in 1963.

After receiving his commission in the US Air Force, Barclay proudly served his country as a highly regarded pilot in the 104th Tactical Fighter Group, Massachusetts Air National Guard in Westfield, MA retiring as a Major in 1979. He spent his civilian career as a purchasing agent and later as a contract administrator at Pratt and Whitney in Brussels, Belgium and in Connecticut.

Besides his wife, he leaves his devoted children and grandchildren: Barclay Jr(Johanna), Henry (Anne), and Margaret(Sergio Vera Gutiérrez), grandchildren Adler, Barclay III, Henry, Elizabeth and Abigail, and his siblings Nathaniel(Nancy) and Laura Danielson(David). He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Margaret Howe Ford.

He will be sorely missed.

At his request, funeral services will be private at Mt Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge MA.
