

He is survived by his partner, RJ Fuentes, his sister, Suzan Evans Slaughter, his brother Douglas Evans, a nephew, Micah Evans, great-nephew Ian Evans, his great-niece Avery Evans, all from Clark County, Nevada, and his stepmother, Doris Evans, of Tucson, Arizona. His father, Douglas Evans, and his mother Shirley Nix, predeceased him.
Dan was born in Seattle, Washington. His father, Douglas B Evans, was a naturalist with the National Park Service. His mother, Shirley V Nix (nee Sethe) worked for the Bureau of Land Management. Dan grew up in some of the most beautiful national parks in the country.
After graduating from Boulder City High School in 1970, Dan went to Michigan State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Political Science in 1974. He graduated with his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law School in 1979.
Dan worked with the Internal Revenue Service. He retired from federal service in 2015. He then served as a part-timeassistant to Msgr Ron Jameson at the Cathedral of St Matthew the Apostle in Washington DC.
Dan enjoyed travelling. His travels took him from as far south as the Beagle Channel in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina to as far north as Inverness in Scotland. He was an amateur English historian and enjoyed reading and listening to audiobooks on the subject. In addition, he enjoyed attending the Washington National Opera, Constellation Theatre, and Studio Theatre.
