

Born on January 12, 1925 in Medford, MA, he was the son of Francis L. Pacious and Margaret Moore Pacious. He attended Medford High School before enrolling at Boston College. His college years were interrupted by the Second World War, during which he served in the Pacific as a Naval Officer. After the war, he completed his college education, graduating from Emory University. Following college, he attended Georgetown Medical School, graduating in 1951.
For many years, Dr. Pacious practiced internal medicine with a specialty in cardiology in the Washington area with offices at 17th & I St., NW. He practiced at Capitol Hill Hospital and was Chief of the Department of Medicine at Providence Hospital, where he also took care of many of the clergy and staff. He was physician in charge at The Little Sisters of the Poor and practiced for forty years, retiring in 1994. Since that time, he resided on Cape Cod and in Florida.
Dr. Pacious was a devout Catholic, who attended daily Mass. It was at Mass at Georgetown that he met his wife, Dr. Anne T. Connolly, to whom he was married for nearly 63 years. Together, they had twelve children. Dr. Connolly passed away in January, 2016. He was a devoted husband and father who greatly enjoyed family gatherings, had an abiding interest in real estate, and set an example for a life well lived.
In addition to his wife, Dr. Pacious was preceded in death by his daughter Patricia, his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Dr. Pacious is survived by eleven children: Mary Anne Stasiak (Chris), Shaun Pacious (Patricia), Mark Pacious (MaryAlice), Brian Pacious, M.D. (Cheryl), Kevin Pacious (Margaret), Kathleen Gilbert (Jeff), Daniel Pacious, Christopher Pacious (Kate), Patrick Pacious (Annie), Edward Pacious (Kimberly), and James Pacious (Trish); thirty-six grandchildren: Caitlin Holt, Courtney Holt, Lynanne Lowry, Daniel Pacious, Kathleen Pacious, Shaun Pacious, Monica Pacious, Patrick Pacious, Brian Pacious, Anne Pacious, Paul Pacious (Kelly), Shannon Pacious, Meaghan Pacious, Theresa Pacious, Joshua Pacious, Jason Pacious, Genevieve Pacious, Shaun Pacious (Kaitlyn), Christopher Pacious (Hannah), Patrick Pacious (Vera), Daniel Pacious, Kyle Gilbert, Brendan Pacious, Fiona Pacious, Kevin Pacious, Caroline Pacious, Andrew Pacious, Thomas Pacious, Daniel Pacious, Erin Pacious, Jeremy Pacious, Elizabeth Pacious, Ryan Pacious, Lauren Pacious, George Pacious and Grant Pacious; and six great-grandchildren: Lauren Swanson-Carter, Lily Pacious, Eisley Pacious, Jordan Pacious, Madeline Pacious and Sophia Pacious.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at Joseph Gawler’s Sons, LLC., 5130 Wisconsin Ave. NW (Corner of Harrison Street) Washington DC on Wednesday March 29, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 9200 Kentsdale Dr. Potomac, MD on Thursday March 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
