

Following a lengthy illness, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015, surrounded by members of her family. She was born June 19, 1918, in Macon, GA, to Harold W. Oliver and Mary Shea Oliver. Raised in Washington, DC, she was a graduate of Western High School and Trinity College. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Genevieve O’Shea, her brothers, Harold W. Oliver, Jr., and Richard W. Oliver, her son-in-law, David J. Leahigh, and by her beloved husband of fifty-five years, John W. Ahern, who died in 2001. She is survived by her daughters Elinor Convery (Vincent) of McLean, Catherine Ahern, also of McLean, Maureen Leahigh (Craig Scales) of Dallas, PA, and Eileen Heflin (Martin) of Nashville, TN; by her son Patrick Ahern, (Patricia) of Bowie; and by ten grandchildren: Thomas Convery and Michael Convery (Maria); John, Colleen and Brendan Leahigh; John and Patrick Ahern; and Elinor Goza (Jennings), Caitlin and Shannon Heflin.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at Joseph Gawler’s Sons, 5130 Wisconsin Avenue NW (corner of Harrison Street) Washington, DC (Valet Parking) on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Church of the Annunciation, 3810 Massachusetts Avenue NW, Washington DC on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
