Mr. Ernest H. Greene died May 21, 2024, at the Carriage Hill Rehabilitation Facility in Bethesda, MD after a valiant struggle with congestive heart failure. He was born on November 16, 1946, in Waynesville, NC to the late Earl and Mary Rose Greene. His beloved brother, Benny Greene, died in 1970 in Vietnam.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Kathryn Otwell Greene; daughter Tiffany Michelle Mack; son Benjamin Tyler (Laurel) Greene; grandsons Kyle and Justin Mack; granddaughter Charlotte Greene; sister Brenda (Charles) Bower; nephew Chris Bower; and niece Bria (Keith) Davis.
Mr. Greene attended East Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee Knoxville. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Throughout his life, Ernie enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and traveling with his beloved wife. A private celebration of his life is being planned for a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the American Heart Association or to the Medstar Transplant Institute at Georgetown University Hospital.
