Harriet Lindner Newbill of Bethesda, Maryland passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023 at the age of 100. She was born in Washington DC and lived most of her life in the Washington area.
She attended Woodrow Wilson High School, Stephens College in Columbia Missouri and graduated from Stetson University in Deland Florida. She was a member of the Washington Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters, a Founder and on the Women’s Committee of The National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Omega Chapter of Alpha Zi Delta Fraternity and a member of Congressional Country Club.
Her husband, Henry Logan Newbill III, a U.S. Naval aviator, died in 1974. She is survived by her two children, Tom Newbill (Robin) and Mary (Cissy) Newbill. She loved and adored her three grandchildren, Logan Newbill (Lea), Meredith Cumbo (Sam) and Hallie Johnson (Bradford) and she was so proud of her six great grandchildren, Millie, Kaito, Henry, Bryant, Maren and Kade.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Potomac, Maryland with a reception to follow at Congressional Country Club. She will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church, 10033 River Road, Potomac, Maryland or the National Museum of Women in the Arts, 1250 New York Ave NW, Washington DC.
