Beloved son of Susan and Dan Nickelson and brother of Jesse Nickelson, died suddenly of a stroke on June 24, 2012. He passed peacefully with family and friends at his bedside. Joel was born in Washington, DC and was a graduate of the Field School and Oberlin College. Joel had a long-standing love of music and literature. He had developed his own record production company for distribution of high quality, vinyl record recordings. He was employed at Georgetown University in the office for the administration of cancer clinical trials. He did volunteer work with Martha's Table and with Alley Cat Allies. Any donations should be made to one or both of these organizations. A memorial service honoring Joel will be held in the near future.
