

John Freeman Caswell (92) died Sunday January 22, 2017 in his home after a long illness. He was the son of the late Beatrice Freeman and Charles Caswell from Troy, NY. He was born August 9, 1924 at Sibley Hospital in Washington, DC and graduated from Central High School as president of his class. He studied at Princeton University on a full scholarship and graduated in 1945. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1941-1943 during the occupation of Japan and the liberation of the Philippines. He worked in foreign services as a member of the CIA for 25 years. He will be remembered as an intelligent, kind, respectful, and wonderful person by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Joseph Gawler’s Sons, LLC., 5130 Wisconsin Avenue, N.W. (corner of Harrison Street) Washington, DC on Thursday January 26, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Guests are also invited to a visitation at McLoughlin and Mason Funeral Home, 8 109th St Troy, NY on Friday January 27, 2017 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Saint Augustine’s Catholic Church, 25 115th St, Troy, NY 12182 on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 9:00 AM with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
