Joseph Francis Pipitone, 94, of Cockeysville, MD, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025. Born in Baltimore in 1931 to Sicilian immigrant parents, Mr. Pipitone grew up during the Depression on Park Heights Avenue, an experience that shaped a lifelong work ethic, deep loyalty to family, and quiet resilience. He began working at a young age, helping support his family while learning early the value of responsibility and perseverance.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Maria A. Pipitone (née Maggio), and their three children: Anthony Pipitone (Myriam Marquez) of Miami Beach; Pati Pipitone-Swartzbaugh (David) of Westminster, MD; and Michael Pipitone (Pasquale Intermoia) of Washington, DC.
Mr. Pipitone was a devoted grandfather to Joey and Michael Pipitone, and Thomas and Noah Swartzbaugh, and a proud great-grandfather of two. He also will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
After first working at G. Fava Fruit Company, Mr. Pipitone spent decades in the air conditioning profession throughout the Baltimore area. He retired in 1993 from Pipco Air Conditioning in Timonium, a business founded by his brother Vince.
He was a lifelong sports enthusiast who played baseball, enjoyed Orioles and Colts games, and spent countless afternoons (and a few dollars) at Maryland's horse racing venues, where he reveled in the rhythm of race days.
Above all, he cherished his family, valuing loyalty, hard work, and simple pleasures.
The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers. Services will be private.
