

On Sunday, December 15, 2013 Margaret (Mimi) Benjamin died peacefully in the arms of her son, surrounded by loved ones. She was the companion of all who loved her, and is survived by her daughter, Peggy Fredricksen; her son, Jim Benjamin; her grandchildren, Carey Fredricksen, Aaron Benjamin, Talitha Benjamin, Kyle Benjamin, and Tess Benjamin; her great grandchildren, Dominick Reddick, Eliana Reddick, Isabelle Ritchie and One On the Way.
Mimi was born in New York City on August 30, 1922, had an unsteady marriage to H. James Benjamin with whom she engaged in diplomatic circles in Paris, France. While in Paris, she particiated in the formation of the famous jazz club, The Blue Note, just off the Champs Elysee, with her beloved friend and brother-in-law, Benjamin P. Benjamin. Finished with the expat life in Paris, Mimi moved to Washington, DC , in 1966, where she excelled in residential property management for 30 years.
She was kind and loving to many friends and absolutely devoted to her family who will remember her laughter and playfulness and constant encouragement.
A service will be held at Gawlers Funeral Home, 5130 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC, Saturday morning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Capital Caring Hospice Care, 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, VA 22042.
