Maria D. Menendez

Maria de Jesus del Rosario Dorado Menendez passed away peacefully in Potomac, Maryland on Saturday, the 2nd of January 2016. She was born in Madrid, Spain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Antonio Menendez, in 1987. Maria lived most of her youth in Havana, Cuba and came to the United States in 1959 and finally settled in Potomac, Maryland in 1973.

Maria was extremely proud of her family and did everything to make them happy. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and mother-in-law. She was also a very devout Catholic.

Maria and Jose Antonio had three daughters, Carmen Maria DiPietro (Joseph DiPietro of Maryland); Maria Teresa (Carlos Fiol of Maryland); and Beatriz Maria (Patrick Tadie of New Jersey). Maria also had nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Maria was also preceded in death by her parents, Carmen Ruisanchez Dorado and Jose Dorado, and sisters Carmen Dorado Mauricio and Laudelina Dorado Mauricio.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from three o’clock until five o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 5th of January, at Joseph Gawler’s Sons Funeral Directors, 5130 Wisconsin Avenue NW in Washington DC.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 6th of January, at Saint Raphael Catholic Church, 1513 Dunster Road in Rockville, MD.

Immediately following the Mass, the interment service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery also in Rockville.
