

MICHELE A. CONLEY (Age 52) Of Chevy Chase, MD passed away on November 28, 2014 at home surrounded by her children and family. Devoted wife of Mark A. Eigenbrode, beloved mother of Denver Conley, Brooke Conley, Brendan Riley Conley, Forrest Conley and step-daughter Lindsey Eigenbrode. She is survived by her mother Annette Nowak of Gainesville, VA, brothers Jacques Steffen (Ellen) of Roslyn NY, Jean "Johno" Steffen of Arlington VA and sister Dominique Schwab (Joseph) of Gainesville, VA along with many nieces and nephews. Born in Roslyn NY, Michele came to Washington DC on a volleyball scholarship to attend the University of Maryland and graduated with a degree in journalism. She became a highly successful State Farm Insurance rep- resentative while raising a family of four. She was an enthusiastic skier, a passion she passed on to her children, an avid runner, biker and tennis player. Michele was a grand slam and perennial tennis champion at Kenwood Country Club in women's singles, doubles and mixed doubles. She was also an avid runner and completed the Marine Corp and NYC Marathons multiple times. Initially diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1998, Michele continued running in the NYC Marathon in support of Sloan Kettering as well as the three-day Avon walk for breast cancer. After with a reoccurrence in 2002, Michele founded Living in Pink with a group of her close friends and husband to begin leading those around her in the fight against breast cancer. Living in Pink became a community provider, aide and local leader in breast cancer research awareness and fundraising. Through Living in Pink, Michele strove to remind us that this disease can be managed and defeated and that in the battle against breast cancer, we can still live, love and laugh. Michele thrived on spreading optimism, the importance of support, understanding and healthy living. Services will be held at the Church of the Little Flower in Bethesda MD at 10 a.m. on Friday December 5. The church will open at 9 a.m. for those that wish to greet the family. A reception for family and close friends will follow.
